Assistant Swim Coach Job Opening (This is a part-time position, evenings & some weekends)
The Rochester Rapids Swim Team is a family-friendly, competitive swim club with a mission to increase diversity in the sport of swimming while developing the character and talent of our swimmers. Based at the Adams Street Recreation Center in the Corn Hill Neighborhood of Rochester, the Rapids has been a competitive club for over 50 years. The Board of Directors (parent volunteers) runs the club in conjunction with the Department of Recreation of the City of Rochester. Children ages 6 to 18 swim under the guidance of our Head Coach and assistant coaches, and compete in local and regional USA Swimming and Genesee Valley Swim League swim meets year-round.
The team practices at the 6-lane, 25 yard Adams Street R Center during the Fall, Winter and Spring and outdoors in the 6-lane, 50m Genesee Valley Park Pool during the summer. We host a meet in February and one in July.
The team is searching for an assistant coach to specifically work with our younger and mid-level athletes 2-3 nights a week (roughly 6-8pm) for practices and at some weekend meets when available.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Competitive Swimming Experience - as athlete and/or coach - Applicants should have a strong background as an athlete and/or coach which demonstrates solid understanding of stroke fundamentals and training methods

Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Background check, Concussion Training, Knowledge of USA Swimming Rules and Regulations (You may apply without these qualifications and the Rapids will help you attain these trainings and certifications upon hire)

USA Swimming Coaching Membership in good standing (if not a current member, Rapids will pay for your USA Swimming membership)

Abide by applicable USA Swimming Codes of Conduct and Safe Sport Requirements

Demonstrate knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of swimming, including dryland training

Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain working relationships with athletes, parents, coaches, and officials
